Landscape Weeding That Actually Sticks

Landscape weeding done right means pulling the root, not snapping the stem. Most weeds you yank by hand or clip at the surface are back in two weeks. Frontline Home Services works through flower beds and landscaping systematically, getting under each weed at the root so your beds stay clean longer. Andy runs every job personally, and after 42 five-star Google reviews from Omaha-area homeowners, the standard hasn't slipped. Call (402) 218-0676 to schedule.

What drives the scope of a weeding job is simple: how established the weeds are, how dense the planting beds are, and whether there's mulch already down suppressing new growth. A bed that's been ignored through a Nebraska spring can take serious time to clear properly. We don't rush it. Once it's clean, pairing the service with mulch laying or a lawn mowing visit gives you a yard that looks maintained top to bottom. Every job is different -- contact Frontline Home Services for an accurate estimate.

Why Omaha Weeds Are a Real Problem

Nebraska's climate is genuinely rough on landscaping. You get hard freezes that heave soil through winter, then warm wet springs that are basically a weed germination event. By the time summer humidity settles in, bindweed, crabgrass, thistle, and creeping Charlie have had weeks to anchor themselves. Homeowners who wait till they can see the problem are already behind. The roots on a mature thistle or dandelion go six to eight inches down -- you can't get those with a hand rake. We use hand tools and targeted pulling technique to extract the full root system without disturbing the plants you actually want to keep.

How We Work

The Frontline Weeding Process

Three steps, no shortcuts.

Call (402) 218-0676
  1. Assess the Beds

We walk the property first and identify weed types, density, and which areas need the most time. You know what's there before we start.

  2. Full Root Extraction

Every weed comes out root-first. We don't clip tops and call it done. The root is what matters -- if it stays in the ground, the weed comes back.

  3. Clean and Advise

We bag and remove debris, then let you know if mulching or a follow-up visit would help hold the line. No pressure, just honest input.

What's Included

What a Weeding Visit Covers

  1. 01

    Full bed walkthrough

Every planting bed on the property gets inspected before we pull a single weed.

  2. 02

    Root-first extraction

Hand tools used to pull weeds at the root, not trim or spray. Annuals and perennial weeds both get the same treatment.

  3. 03

    Debris removal

Pulled weeds get bagged and removed. We don't leave plant material sitting in beds where it can re-seed.

  4. 04

    Post-visit recommendations

If the beds would benefit from mulch, edging, or a follow-up in four weeks, we'll tell you straight. No upsell pressure.

Pair Weeding With These Services

01

Mulch Laying

A fresh layer of mulch after weeding suppresses new growth and cuts your next weeding visit down significantly. One of the most practical things you can do for a landscaped bed.

02

Lawn Mowing

Clean beds look sharp when the lawn is cut and edged at the same time. We handle lawn mowing on a recurring schedule so the whole yard stays in shape between weeding visits.

03

Yard Work Bundles

If the property needs more than weeding, our yard work service covers cleanup, debris removal, and general outdoor maintenance. Bundle it and we handle everything in one visit.

04

Grass Seeding

Cleared beds sometimes reveal thin or bare patches in adjacent lawn areas. Grass seeding fills those in before weeds take the open space back.

  • Due to being a senior, I hadn’t washed my windows in 10 years. I couldn’t stand looking through the build up of dirt anymore. They were scummy. Frontline Hime Service came out and cleaned my exterior windows. I was thrilled when they finished. My windows are so clean you’d swear there wasn't even a window there. They were very professional, friendly and respectful of my property. I’d give them a 10 star! Call them, you won’t regret it!

  • Andy showed up when he scheduled that is rare with contractors today. He was concise in explaining what do planned to do and he went about doing it. I asked about some extra work, and he gladly provided the service while he was on site. I will certainly have him back to do the interior windows and put him on a semi-annual schedule. REFRESHING!

  • Frontline Home Services saved us from becoming permanent residents of “Snowmageddon 2025.” They added us to their route faster than I can find my snow boots (which is impressive). They showed up, cleared everything, salted it down, and made our driveway look like we actually have our life together. This family business is reliable, friendly, and honestly feels like hiring the Avengers for snow removal. Highly recommend!

What do landscapers use to get rid of weeds in planting beds?
For residential landscape beds, the most effective approach is hand extraction with a narrow hori-hori knife or a stand-up weeder that gives you leverage to pull the full taproot. Some contractors spray herbicide, but that carries real risk of drift onto plants you want to keep, and it doesn't remove the dead plant material. We pull weeds by hand so nothing you planted gets damaged in the process.
Are you supposed to pull weeds roots and all, or just the tops?
Roots and all, every time. Perennial weeds like dandelion, thistle, and bindweed regenerate from the root crown if you snap the stem. Clipping at the surface is a short-term fix that keeps you mowing around the same plants all season. We pull the complete root structure, which is the only reason a weeding visit stays clean for more than a week or two.
How often do landscape beds in Nebraska need to be weeded?
In a typical Nebraska season, established beds with good mulch coverage might need attention every four to six weeks. Beds that are mulch-thin or in full sun in spring can need weeding every two to three weeks from April through June, when germination pressure is highest. After a thorough initial clearing and a mulch top-up, subsequent visits go faster.
Does mulch actually help keep weeds from coming back?
Yes, meaningfully. Two to three inches of hardwood or shredded bark mulch blocks light from reaching weed seeds in the soil, which is the main way it suppresses germination. It won't stop every weed, especially perennials that spread via root runners, but it cuts the regrowth rate by a significant amount. Pairing a weeding visit with fresh mulch laying is the most practical thing most homeowners can do to hold the line.
Do you remove the weeds from the property, or leave them on-site?
We bag and remove all pulled weeds. Leaving plant material on-site in beds is counterproductive because many weeds can re-root or drop seed even after they've been pulled. Everything comes off the property. We leave the beds clear.
Can landscape weeding be bundled with lawn mowing on the same visit?
Yes, and it's a good way to get the whole yard looking sharp at once. When weeding and mowing happen the same day, you get clean beds and a cut lawn together instead of one looking maintained while the other doesn't. Contact Frontline Home Services and we'll set up a visit that covers both.
